Providing Day-To-Day Support for existing 8i, 9i and 10g Oracle Databases Providing DBA Assistance to the Oracle Upgrades Project. Any other jobs required by the DBA team in the execution of their role.

The types of tasks that the Contractor/Consultant will be expected to carry out are as follows:-
Day-To-Day Support for existing 8i, 9i and 10g Oracle Databases
Problem solving issues in relation to database links, including links that span different versions of Oracle.
Providing DBA support for existing databases.
Providing support for Oracle 9i & 10g Application Server.
Tuning Oracle Databases.
Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Oracle Discoverer both Client/Server and Application Server versions.
Tuning Oracle Application server.
Working with Developers and Support Staff to resolve Forms, reports, discoverer problems in an 8i/6i environment.
Working with Unix Administrators to resolve problems in an 8i/6i environment

Oracle Upgrades Project
Upgrading Oracle databases from 8i to Oracle 10g
Installing Oracle 10g.
Problem solving issues that arise on Oracle 10g databases (both day-to-day and in relation to upgrading from 8i to 10g).
Upgrading and installing Oracle Applications Server 10g.
Problem solving issues that arise on Oracle 10g Application Server (both day-to-day and in relation to upgrading from 8i to 10g).
Converting Oracle Forms/Reports from Oracle 6i Client/Server to 10g and trouble shooting issues that arise

Other Requirements
In addition, we expect that the person provided will have :-
Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to provide quality documentation.
Experience of providing mentoring/skills transfer to other staff.
Demonstrable ability to work with third parties.Good problem solving skills.
Ability to work on his/her own initiative if required.
